Blow those candles, eat that cake: Life's too short not to have a taste

Happy birthday, light the fire,
Throw candles on my croissant empire.
I wanted cake, my jeans said “nope,”
I like frosting made purely of hope.
Getting older but I dance like a fool,
Still young at heart, I break my own rules.
If wisdom comes with every gray hair,
How come I forget why I walked in there?
Should I eat the cake, or salvage my waist?
Life’s too short not to have a taste.
So hand me a fork, and draw up a plan:
Tomorrow I’ll jog, but probably not, man.
So blow those candles on a croissant or cake,
Make a wish big enough to fix what's at stake.
Another year older, still full of delight—
Happy birthday, my friend, let’s party tonight.
