Earlier this year, I wrote a version of "J'adore les Croissants" for a project with Steve Ash of Commsbreakdown. (Check out his Bandcamp; totally worth it.)
I recorded the spoken lyrics with over-the-top French acting, as appropriate given we're talking about croissants here!
But then, I started to wonder what it would sound like as a full-fledged song. I don't sing (at least not in public) and I don't play guitar, so with some trepidation and a dose of morbid curiosity, I turned to Suno, an A.I. music generator.
As usual with those tools, it took a bit of trial and many errors to achieve something close to what I had in mind. In the end, the tune is catchy; the virtual singer sounds pretty good; and frankly now I want to record this song for real, with proper instruments. I might even give a shot at singing it myself.
Until this happens, I hope you enjoy this synthetic collaboration.
For the English translation, I had to change several verses to keep the rhythm and rhyming scheme. Good luck rhyming "croissant" in English! Overall, it works OK, but I prefer the French version.
